Optical Instruments:
Compound Microscope: is used to obtain high magnifications - up to several thousand times - of very small objects. Converging lenses concentrate light on the object, which is placed just outside the principal focus of the small converging lens, called the objective.
This objective forms a magnified real image of the object a few centimetres away. Since this image, which is inverted, is still quite small, a magnifier (consisting of another converging lens) is used as an eyepiece to produce a further enlarged virtual image of the first image.
Telescopes: A telescope provides angular magnification of a distant object. It produces an effect of enlargement and closeness of the object to the eye.
Other important instruments are Binocular, Photometer, Polarmeter, Interferometer, Spectrometer and Autocoilimeter
